I’ve been reading erotica for just over 20 years. Here’s a list of the 100 best stories I’ve read in that time:
#100: My Sister’s Tits by SquattingEagle
Tags: mf, ff, in – bro/sis, sis/sis, twins
This one hits a long list of my favourite themes: brother/sister incest, free use, tits, cock-sucking, sister/sister incest, twins. It even nails one of my most specific kinks: a character letting someone else use their body sexually for reasons other than personal gratification.
So why is it ranked so low? Well, just making it on the list at all is a good thing (seriously, I’ve read a LOT of erotica over the past two decades) but it also hits a lot of things that put me off in smut: the sister secretly being in love with the brother the whole time, the family being perverts all along.
I spend a lot of time reflecting on why I do or don’t like certain kinks, and the reason for those two is the same: it just makes it all too easy.
Whatever I’m reading or writing needs a certain level of “friction” for me to enjoy it. If you make things too easy for the characters, I roll my eyes and move on. I don’t see it so much these days, but a lot of incest erotica used to have the same big reveal halfway through – the mother was a deviant all along! She used to fuck her father, so she has zero issue having sex with her own children.
Some people find that pervasive perversion hot; I find it tedious.
Similarly, when it turns out that [the pursued] was secretly into [the pursuer] all along, it removes the tension for me, and I completely clock out.
This story is hot enough to make it work, however, which makes it just hot enough to make it onto the list.
Best scene: The full month of cumming on his lesbian sister’s tits. It’s barely two paragraphs, just casually part of the story, and I love it.
If you liked this, check out: Some of SquattingEagle’s other work appears later on this list, though none of it is written in the same tone as this story. Of my own work, a number of my Sexy Shorts are about this same kind of casual sexual usage of a sibling’s body for supposedly non-sexual reasons.
#99: Room for Rent by Aginor
Tags: mc, mf, md, cheating, in – daddy/daughter
Aginor is unique.
Erotica’s an odd duck. It’s more similar to music than any other creative endeavor. You don’t have to be a master craftsman – sometimes a piece of work will just resonate with a reader, hit them somewhere deep and primal.
That’s not to say that can’t be the case with other mediums. Primer is an excellent example in film; a first-time writer/director made it on the cheap, put himself in the starring role, and what resulted was a film that hit a lot of people where they live.
Maybe because it’s just a relatively small field, but erotica feels to me like a LOT of the great works are…not that well-written?
By no means is Aginor a terrible writer; I’m just using this story as an excuse to talk about something I think about a lot. But his strength isn’t prose or character development or dialogue or plot: it’s his ideas.
Hot, unique, twisted ideas.
Aginor’s style is one that I’ve directly aped a few times, because I think it’s so interesting. Mind-controller enters a house, manipulates a family, and puts them under his control. But there’s something so beautifully perverse about what the mind-controllers in his stories do with the families; the manipulation is so off-beat and dark (without ever going too far for my tastes).
They’re a real pleasure to read. There’s one dark aspect I particularly enjoy: since the mind controller is external, the ultimate fate often doesn’t allow any of the manipulated characters to truly enjoy themselves.
Best scene: The father and daughter being strapped together into a bizarre device. This description doesn’t do it justice; it’s so weird, and so weirdly hot.
If you liked this, check out: My stories inspired by Aginor, namely: Family Circus (which was a commission, and quite odd – even for my catalogue), Dominic’s Diagnosis (one that I wrote just to try on Aginor’s style), Manners Maketh Man (another commission, basically what you’d get if Aginor wrote a primarily m/m story), and Stranger at the Door (which I think is the most Aginory of all my work).
#98: The Male Mind by Mesmerr
Tags: mc, md, mf, spanking, alpha male, in – cousins, nephews, and aunts, oh my!
I haven’t read this story in well over a decade. I reread most of the stories on this list while putting it together, but anything over a certain length I had to skip.
The Male Mind is the story of a young man who moves onto a boat with his uncle and aunt and two female cousins, and slowly convinces them to respect traditional gender roles. Largely, if I recall correctly, through spanking.
The spanking scenes are pretty hot.
It’s interesting because most of the mind control is just…persuasion. The main character feels very strongly about something, and he “conditions” his family to accept it through logic, debate, a dominant presence, and heavy use of spanking. It barely qualifies for the mc tag, but it’s a good piece of fiction.
Plus, the spanking scenes are hot.
Best scene: The girls thinking over their cousin’s proposal, discussing it, and coming to Billy to say “Look, we’ve decided that we want to do this.”
Worst scene: The uncle and aunt seeing their two daughters acting like sluts, and having the reaction “This is totally fine and normal, and hey, maybe we should get in on this as well”. Completely unsuspended my disbelief. Overt mind-control would’ve really helped the tale here.
If you liked this, check out: There are some more “alpha male” stories coming up on the list, but from my catalogue I can recommend Angry Alister, Teen Wolf Step-Brother, and…oh man, is that all? I gotta write more alpha male-y stories.
#97: Wanna Bet by Kris P. Kreme and Losing Bet by mcguy101
Tags: mc, mf, md
Despite the fact that neither of them have published for several years now, I still think of Kris P. Kreme and Lisa Teez as the king and queen of the EMCSA. By the time I started posting in earnest, they were both contributing high-quality smut week after week after week.
Lisa Teez still runs the MC Forum, and I think Kris is still around, but it’s been a long while since every update included at least one or two tales from each of them.
I’m so fascinated by erotica authors. I’m extremely open about my weird life – all my friends and family know what I do for a living, and it’s not hard to track my real identity down from my erotica, but that’s unique. Everyone else’s real lives are a complete mystery.
Anyway, that was a tangent. The story:
Wanna Bet is standard KPK fare: man uses mind control to corrupt a young woman, they have sexy sex. It’s a fun, short, hot story. But when mcguy101 wrote a follow-up two weeks later, it escalated things in a really fun, clever way.
I mentioned in the runners-up that very few stories these days feature multiple endings. Well, the sequel sort of fills that niche. It’s a fun little duo, and has stuck in my head for well over a decade.
Best scene: I really enjoyed the scene in Losing Bet where Tim overhears the entire events of the first story happen. There’s nothing particularly hot about it, I just enjoy that kind of meta-fiction.
If you liked this, check out: There are many dozens of “women controlled by magical voice” stories, but that’s not the appeal of this one. I’m struggling to think of anything that does this sort of sequelizing; coming in and transforming the story through observation. Back to the Future II, I suppose. If you liked this, go watch Back to the Future II.
#96: Barbara’s Job Retraining by Julien Sorel
Tags: mc, mf, md, teacher-to-stripper
Mind control, as a fetish, was sort of implanted into my brain. I didn’t start with an interest in the genre, but Simon’s site is so excellently run (the tags! The regular updates! The word-count limits! The Reader’s Picks!) that I found myself coming back week after week, and clicking on the stories with tags that did interest me, or the authors whose work I consistently enjoyed.
Here’s the thing: if you repeatedly get off to a particular type of erotica, even if it didn’t start as your thing…it quickly becomes your thing. Five years later, I would definitely have said Mind Control was one of my favorite types of erotica. It’s now been almost eighteen years, and I don’t think it’s immodest to say I’m one of the best-known writers in the genre.
In a sense, I was mind-controlled to like mind control. Not by anyone in particular; I did it to myself.
A story doesn’t have to have mind control in it for me to find it hot, and a mind control story doesn’t have to be hot for me to enjoy it. This one is clearly erotica, but I don’t even know if I’d say I find it arousing – it’s just a really interesting exploration of how mind control can be used to tweak someone’s mind, a sub-genre that I find endlessly fascinating.
It’s particularly interesting because it starts with the clumsy “sledge-hammer” mind control that I rarely enjoy, and then slowly peels that away until you’re left with subtlety and conditioning.
There’s a scene in a Ben Elton book where two characters get drunk, but in reverse (kind of). Instead of starting with beers and getting slowly wasted over the course of the night, they open the evening’s festivities with shots of vodka, and then once they’re smashed enjoy sipping beers as they chat (and fuck) for the rest of the evening.
This is like the mind control equivalent of that.
Best scene: The moment where Barbara is given complete control back, just for a few moments…and out of a strange sort of social pressure, keeps on doing exactly what she was doing.
If you liked this, check out: This story likely came to my attention after I read Julian Sorel’s other tale, The Adventures of Raina. It didn’t make my list because it’s too dark, too long, and sort of aimless after the first chapter, but if you really like this one there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy that too. It’s another fascinating deconstruction of a person, through means just as unsubtle as this one.
#95: Hand Me Down by Kris P. Kreme
Tags: mc, mf, md, in – bro/sis, daddy/daughter
Another KPK tale, and (unless I’m misremembering) his last appearance on the list. I enjoy Kris’s work, but his stories aren’t the kind of thing that particularly stick in my mind. Scrolling through his tales, I couldn’t find anything else that I remembered as amazing (though many of them are good) – his catalogue is more like a big jar of jellybeans than a finely-cooked steak.
To quote Mitch Hedburg: “Rice is great if you’re really hungry and want to eat two thousand of something.”
This one, however, firmly stayed with me. Dakota essentially experiences alien hand syndrome: after a stranger gives her a gift that used to belong to her mother, her hand slowly turns her into a slut.
First it gives her an orgasm (her first ever), then it jacks off her brother, then…well, it’s a short read (but one that is very much worth your time). Check it out to see where else Dakota’s hand takes her. (Or just read the tags above, I guess.)
Best scene: The scene where she pleads for her (adopted) brother to leave the room, because she doesn’t trust what she’ll do next. He very happily stays. The final scene is pretty baller, too.
If you liked this, check out: All of Kris’s tales are good, and there’s plenty of them. Of my own works, I think Convincing Connie is probably most similar, although it’s missing that direct “I don’t want to be doing this” energy that makes this tale so electric. Any of the “one wish before, one wish after” stories – Under the Panties, the Hitch-Hiker – are pretty similar in tone, too.
#94: Donna’s Delight by Magic Carpet
Tags: mc, mf, md, in – bro/sis
I was working with someone on an erotica idea a while back, and we had this fundamental difference of what made a story hot. He wanted the tale to be a standard adventure story – hero goes on a quest, fights baddies, defeats evil, etc etc. The appeal to him was that as he was doing all this, he’d be having sex. His pitch:
“So he goes to the alien planet, and has sex with some hot aliens. Then he discovers the secret conspiracy, and realizes he needs to escape. He does, and then has sex with some other hot people who are escaping…”
A great many stories have been written that way, but my issue was just…that doesn’t need to be an erotica story. That’s just a normal sci-fi story, and then also there are erotic moments.
If you take a great book and just add a sex scene to the end of each chapter then sure, you’ve got an erotic book, but it’s completely shoe-horned.
For me, the appeal of a long erotic story (in comparison to a short, which is a whole different ballgame) is that the plot, the conflict, and the tension are inherently hot.
My best-known story is Limits. It’s the tale of a brother trying to turn his sister into his personal sex-slave, but he constantly runs into obstacles. The obstacles aren’t external threats – the FBI trying to dig up information about his dead father, or his neighbor secretly being an axe-murderer.
No, the conflict in Limits comes directly from the brother’s attempts to control his sister’s mind…which is also where the heat comes from. You can’t take away the erotica, nor can you take away the plot. They’re more than just intertwined, they’re one and the same.
Donna’s Delight is almost one of the best stories of all time (if you share my taste in erotica). The premise is exactly up my alley: brother uses mind control potion to slowly control his sister’s mind. It’s got a nice escalation, some really hot scenes, and it’s well-written throughout.
So why is it so low on this list, instead of being one of the all-time greats? Mostly because it was abandoned, but there are two other major factors in play:
Firstly, there’s a sort of background subplot about warlocks and witches and unlocking a great evil. I honestly couldn’t even tell you if that came into play before the story’s abrupt demise, but I remember thinking that it felt like a very forced external conflict – it’s very common, but the exact kind of thing that I try to avoid in my tales (unless requested in a commission).
Secondly, a lot of the heat in the story came from the tension of Patrick grappling with the guilt of what he was doing to his sister, another very common theme in my tales (one most apparent in Mad Monday, where I pushed that button as hard as I possibly could). Part of the various magicks he’s doing, however, resulted in his own morality being seeped away; specifically, how he felt about what he was doing to his sister.
That’s like writing a romance story where one of the characters is slowly and externally forced to stop caring about the other. It feels like something the author added to ensure that they could take the story in darker and darker directions without those pesky characters getting in the way…and in the process, removed the main source of heat.
Best scene: Honestly, the entire story is incredibly hot. For all my kvetching above, every time Donna is unwillingly repeating how much she likes being feminine, how much she likes wearing sexy clothes, how much she likes to touch herself…it’s some of the best ‘trance’ writing you’ll ever read.
If you liked this, check out: Limits is the obvious recommendation, but if you really enjoy Donna’s Delight, MindSpark’s Grimoire (and probably his catalogue in general) is worth checking out.
#93: Shame by Stormbringer
Tags: mf, md, cheating, interracial
Stormbringer’s back! And oh boy, with what a tale.
Shame is the interracial erotica version of the classic Western, Shane. It tells the story of a stranger who rolls into town and helps defend a family who are being kicked off their ranch.
Except because he’s a character in a Stormbringer story, he’s a well-hung black man who sleeps with a married woman (and her teenage daughter).
God damn this is a hot one. It has so much that I like in a story – big boobs, big dicks, and the deep sense of betrayal that Stormbringer so consistently makes so fucking hot…
Best scene: The story isn’t particularly long, but so many scenes stick out to me. The epilogue is pure heat, as is the scene where Shame goes swimming with the rancher’s daughter and takes her from “virgin” to “cock-slut” within a few mere minutes, but the crown has to go to the scenes where the wife sneaks out to the barn where Shame is sleeping and offers to get him off in exchange for his protection.
If you liked this, check out: I honestly wish I had a story in my catalogue that I could recommend. I’ve long found the idea of a man fucking his way through an entire family hot as hell. There’s an old, unfinished Stormbringer story – Uncle Hank Comes to Visit which has a similar premise. I always wanted to see a continuation of that one. Shame also a sequel, Hung Coon, though I didn’t enjoy it quite as much.
#92: Shrink Rapt by Downing Street
Tags: mc, md, mf, ff, in – bro/step-sis, bro/step-mom
Downing Street is, hands-down, the best writer of mind control fiction. I doubt there are many people in the scene who would even try to dispute that; the man’s a master, and has written many of the best stories in the genre.
His stories only rarely contain incest, but this is one of those gems that does. Not as the main focus of the story, but it’s there, and scorching hot. The entire story is.
This is within the sub-sub-genre “First person account from psychiatrist brought in to assess controller who is slowly influenced by them”. I don’t have a huge amount to say about this one; it’s just a master-class in writing great erotica.
Spoiler alert: you’re going to see a lot more Downing Street on this list.
Best scene: There’s a small mention at some point of the controller having his (step-)sister and (step-)mother come to visit, and getting in trouble for letting him finger him through the bars. The sense of need conveyed by just a small paragraph…amazing.
If you liked this, check out: Another from Downing Street in the same sub-sub-genre is Acid of the Mind, but you could honestly throw a dart at a list of Downing Street stories and be sure of hitting one of the best stories you’ve ever read. If you like this, read anything else he’s ever written.
Actually, no. If you like this, go read everything else he’s ever written. You won’t regret it.
#91: Neighbors From Back When by Ice Bear
Tags: mc, md, mf
Another first appearance from one of the best writers on the EMCSA: Ice Bear! Many of his best tales have been moved over to Amazon, but he still has a number of real gems online for free.
This one is just plain ol’ fun. Many years ago, a young man started playing a subliminal tape in his neighbor’s house, trying to turn her into a sex slave. He forgot about it, moved away, and now that he’s back…everyone who’s ever slept in that room is coming over and offering him sexual favors.
I’ve been around long enough that I think I can safely say that I’ve been at least a partial inspiration for some newer writers on the EMCSA. MindSpark is probably the writer who I’ve most obviously influenced, but I like to (perhaps immodestly) think that Ice Bear is on that list as well.
The biggest commonalities between our writing are the light-hearted tone, the way a single tale will spend most of its run-time exploring a single idea, a solid grasp on story structure, and use of reluctant protagonists.
If only the man would write more incest.
Despite those similarities, I think Ice Bear’s stories definitely stand alone. Frankly, I think he’s probably a better writer than I am – there are so many tales in his catalogue that I wish I’d come up with, and he invariably nails the execution.
Best scene: The scene where an angry relative of the women DJ has been fucking accosts him with a gun, ready to kill him, until…well, I don’t want to spoil it. It got a genuinely laugh out loud from me though.
If you liked this, check out: If you’ve never read any Ice Bear stories, you’re in for a treat. He has dozens of stories online, but backing his Patreon gives you access to the entire catalogue (including the tales coming up on this list, most of which were later moved to Amazon), and I probably spend as much time in his Discord as I do my own.
Up next: #90-81…
